All students enrolled in Math 94 and Math 95 are required to attend Math Lab once a week. Students enrolled in both Math 94 and Math 95 need to attend Math Lab for both classes. Ten percent of the Math 94/95 grade is based on participation and performance in Math Lab.

## What is Math Lab for Math 94/95?

Math Lab is a computer room from which students can access the math program that generates questions to be answered by multiple choice. There will be a Math Lab Assistant in the room to help students sign in and get help. Students are encouraged to bring pencil, paper, calculators, and their Math 94/95 book to Math Lab.

The purpose of Math Lab is to help students build on the mathematical foundation that they have already established. *Math lab exposes students to several math concepts that may or may not coincide with the concepts being covered in their regular Math 94/95 lecture.

## How many questions do I have to answer?

There is one homework assignment per week. Each homework assignment consists of three levels. In order to complete a level you need to answer three correct questions (they do not need to be consecutive). Therefore, a homework assignment only requires 9 correct questions as a total. Every time a question is answered incorrectly the program will generate question after question until three correct questions are accumulated within each level.

## Where is Math Lab?

Generally Math Lab is located in computer lab rooms in Ojai Hall. The locations and schedule are established each semester. Please see below for this semester’s Math Lab schedule.

## Who is in charge of Math Lab?

Math Lab Assistants run the math lab and are therefore the ones who provide the Math 94/95 instructors with the percentage points that each student earns. Please see a Math Lab assistant for any questions. For any further issues not resolvable with a Math Lab Assistant please contact the Math Lab Coordinator Dr. Selenne Bañuelos at selenne.banuelos@csuci.edu.

## What is the role of the Math Lab Assistants?

Math Lab Assistants oversee the Math Lab, take role, grade off a 10% scale, and help students who need a hint towards solving a problem. Please check in with the Math Lab Assistant for the lab you attend for procedures regarding the Math Lab itself (for example, how to sign in and out with them each time you visit the lab). Math Lab Assistants will also help students set up their Math Lab accounts. Those enrolled in both Math 94 and Math 95 will need two separate accounts.
